Our Local Schools: The Artesia Public Schools (APS) district serves Artesia, NM, and the surrounding areas. The district is known for its strong academic programs (usually top 3 in the state), dedicated teachers, and highly successful extracurricular activities, particularly in athletics. APS includes several elementary schools, one junior high school, and the Artesia High School, which is well known for its championship-winning Artesia Bulldogs football team.
In additions to academics and athletics, the district emphasizes career and technical education. Just recently (January 2025) the school opened a brand-new Career Center 1 building, designed to become one of the three on-campus buildings dedicated exclusively to Career Technical Education (CTE). Two more Career Center buildings are to follow in the near future. APS strives to provide a well-rounded education, preparing students for college, careers, and leadership roles. The district enjoys strong community support, reflecting Artesia’s pride in its schools and student achievements.
