Last night at City Council we got an update from our Safety Committee. They reported in the month of June we had one employee safety incident. This puts us at eight total so far this year. This is a huge improvement compared to this time last year when we were at 26.
Next the council approved the job description for the new City Administrator position. Among other duties, the position will assist the mayor in providing updates and recommendations to the council. The administrator may also represent the mayor and the city at meetings with community and government organizations.
Then our infrastructure director gave us some updates. The Grand street project has moved into phase two. Grand is now open in both directions from 13th-20th but only the westbound lane will be open from 20th-26th street. This work is expected to last until the end of September.
In closing, councilor Rodriguez encouraged everyone to go to the Eddy County Fair. The fair is going on now until Saturday. Don’t miss out on the carnival, livestock shows, concerts, bull riding and more. Visit the Eddy County Fair’s website for the full schedule.
This has been your City Council Recap. We hope you join us for our next meeting August 12th at City Hall.
