City Council approved a facilities request to allow Artesia MainStreet to hold their Downtown Street Dance Event. The Dance will take place March 28th from 6:30pm-9pm at the parking lot at 5th and Texas Ave. The dance will be one of many festivities taking place around this weekend’s 26th Annual Main Event Car Show and Cruise.
The Chamber of Commerce provided an update on recent meetings they’ve had with officials from the National Championship Air Races. The chamber is working to secure accommodations for the event, including rental cars, and tie downs for planes being flown in.
The city approved receipt of a grant from the state that provides retention pay for police officers based on years of service.
Our Infrastructure Department announced that there will be a meeting with the state’s boundary commission March 28th at City Hall. The meeting will take place at 3pm and will deal with the potential annexation of the North Richey area.
The city also approved some budget adjustments. Notable adjustments include repairs to one of our water wells and money for new EKG machines for the Artesia Hospital District. Money was also set aside to go towards events in Artesia during the National Championship Air Races
