For a written recap, read below:

At the latest City Council meeting we got an update from our Safety Committee. They reported that city staff had another incident free month in November. This marks the third incident free month in 2025. We are at 23 incidents so far this year compared to 46 this time last year. The committee credited new safety policies for keeping our workers safe and saving the city money in the process.

After that, we got an update from our animal shelter. 71 dogs were taken in by the shelter in November. That is the most in a single month so far this year. The shelter has been making use of grant money to incentivize adoptions, but it’s hard to keep pace with how many dogs are coming in. If you’d like to see the pets available at the animal shelter, you can visit their website or go to the shelter in person at 502 Paddywagon way.

Then the council approved an agreement between the city and Stack Sports. This agreement would allow parents to do online registration when signing kids up for city sports. Parents would also be able to pay registration fees online, although there will be a small credit card fee on top of that. This will not do away the option to register and pay in person, but we hope this will make it more convenient for busy parents.

After that the council approved another software upgrade for the city. The new program will allow forms to be filled out, submitted, and approved online. This will streamline the approval process for forms like applications for events, permits and licenses. We hope this makes it more convenient than having to take time out of your day to go place to place to get forms signed physically. This will not replace the option to fill out physical forms, this will just be another option. While council approved the new product, we now have to create the digital forms which will take time. We will put out announcements when certain forms can be filled out digitally.

Then the city announced our holiday hours. City offices will be closed on December 25th and 26th for Christmas. We will close to the public at 1:00 on Christmas eve.

In closing, councilors wished everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Years. This was the final city council meeting of 2025. There will, however, be a special council meeting on December 15th to assign recently annexed areas to voting districts. The public is invited to attend.

This has been your city council recap. Thank you for a great year. We hope you join us for our next meeting January 13th right here at City Hall.
