Library Children's Program -- Singing Cowgirl Aspen Black

Thursday, July 19, 2018

“The Singing Cowgirl” program is an interactive musical and cultural presentation by award-winning singer/songwriter and educator Aspen Black. Participants will discover historical and modern aspects of cowboy and cowgirl life through active listening, call and response, role-play, rhythmic body movements, singing, hand instruments, and dance. Children will further their literacy skills and get a glimpse into the contributions of Spanish, Native American, and northern European cultures in shaping the American West, the role of horses, mules, and cattle in historical and modern-day ranching, and traditions that keep the west alive today. The program is aimed at boys and girls, toddler – pre-teen, and their families.
